Marie Bank forced a third set after falling in the first and trailing 4-2 in the second at No. 6 singles, but RIT's Kirsten Aubel prevailed 6-2 in the third to help the Tigers edge the St. Lawrence women's tennis team, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon in the Newell Field House.
RIT led 2-1 after doubles play, but the Saints opened singles with three straight wins to take a 4-2 team lead.
Christina Ryan tied the match at 2-2 with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Anne Taylor at No. 2, before
Caroline Reilly put St. Lawrence in front with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1.
Grace van Tartwijk won the final match of the day for the Saints at No. 3 singles, as she edged Shayna Ginster 6-4, 6-3 to put the Saints in front 4-2.
RIT followed with wins at No. 4 and No. 5 to tie the match, before Aubel bested Bank in their three-set battle at No. 6 to clinch the win for the Tigers
Saturday's match was the final home match of
Carly Jefferson's career, as she was honored in a morning ceremony prior to the start against the Tigers.
