Christina Ryan's win at No. 3 singles helped the St. Lawrence women's tennis clinch a 6-3 victory over Rensselaer on Saturday morning in the Newell Field House to improve to 2-1 in Liberty League play.
The Saints got off to a 3-0 start through doubles play, as they prevailed in close matches at all positions. Ryan and partner
Grace van Tartwijk edged RPI's Sanjana Surapeneni and Brenda Peng, 8-7 (7), at No. 2 to complete the sweep.
RPI won the first two matches in singles play at No. 4 and No. 2 to cut the overall deficit to 3-2 in the match, but St. Lawrence responded with a three-set come-from-behind win by Reilly at No.1 and Ryan's 2-0 win at No. 3 to win it.
For Reilly, after falling to Sonya Khudyakov 4-6 in the first set, she posted commanding 6-0, 6-1 wins in the next two for a key win in the match for the Saints.
