Alexandra LaMotte scored a season-high six goals to lead the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team to a 15-5 win over the University of Rochester in Liberty League action at North Country Field on Saturday afternoon.
LaMotte also picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers, while
Kylie Murphy scored two goals and assisted on two others.
Hannah Drechsel and
Emma Owens also scored two goals each for the Scarlet and Brown, while
Isabel Silvia and
Claudia Barbera notched a goal and an assist and
Nicole Stanton scored once.
Colby Hoffman and Silvia each caused three turnovers, while Silvia won three draw controls and Hoffman grabbed a team-best five ground balls.
The Saints came out firing on all cylinders, building an 8-0 lead over the Yellowjackets heading into the final six minutes of the first half.
The Yellowjackets ended the first half and kicked off the second with goals from Maggie McKenna and Mary Panepento, but the Saints responded with two goals from LaMotte and one from Murphy to increase the Scarlet and Brown's lead to 11-2.
The Saints continued to outscore the Yellowjackets 4-3 down the stretch, sealing their first Liberty League win of the season.

Panepento led the Yellowjackets with two goals, one assist, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Katherine Woo, Jamison Seabury and McKenna also scored for Rochester, while Paige Smith led the Yellowjackets with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Saints' goalkeeper
Olga Lukas made nine saves, while Carlie Bendavid made five for the Yellowjackets.
The Saints outshot Rochester 25-18 and held a 20-14 shots on goal advantage. St. Lawrence also converted on 21-of-23 clear opportunities and picked up 19 ground balls.
St. Lawrence improved to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while Rochester fell to 3-5 and 1-3.
The Saints will hit the road to take on Ithaca on Friday, April 5 at 4 p.m.
