The St. Lawrence men's tennis team faced a tough test in the No. 34 Rensselaer Engineers on Saturday afternoon, falling 9-0 in the Liberty League match in Newell Field House.

Spencer Whitmire was the only Saint to win a set against RPI on Saturday, beating Yudai Teruyama in the first of his match at No. 4, 6-2, but Teruyama responded with 6-1, 10-6 wins in the others to take the win.
Leo Romanetz battled Clay Thompson deep into both their sets at No. 2. Thompson prevailed in a first-set tiebreak 7-6 (5), before also edging the Saints' sophomore in the second 7-5.
Arman Tavana also forced at tiebreak in his first set at No. 6, but Dylan Payne got the better of the match with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 result in favor of the visitors.
In addition to their national ranking, the Engineers are also ranked No. 12 in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
