The ninth-ranked Trinity Bantams defeated the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team 17-3 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon in Troy, New York.
Sophomore
Kylie Murphy led the Saints with two goals, while
Alexandra LaMotte scored once for the Scarlet and Brown.
Malia MacDonald added an assist, while
Hannah Drechsel picked up two ground balls, caused one turnover and won six draw controls.
Maggie Green also grabbed two ground balls, while
Colby Hoffman caused a team-best three turnovers.
The Bantams struck early and often building a 9-0 lead over the Saints. MacDonald fed Murphy for the Saints first goal with 14 seconds to play in the first half.
Murphy added her 14th goal of the season at 23:14 and LaMotte netted a man-up tally for the Saints with 12:21 to play, but Trinity went on to outscore the Saints 8-2 in the second half for the win.
The Bantams were led by Sophie Berger and Mary French with three goals each, while Sydney Bell, Kendall Milligan, Katrina Angelucci and Samantha Booma each scored two goals. Marcella Flibotte, Flibotte also caused three turnovers and won two draw controls.
Trinity goalkeeper Gabriella Young made nine saves, while the
Olga Lukas finished with six for the Saints.
The Bantams outshot the Saints 30-16 and held a 23-12 shots on goal advantage.
St. Lawrence fell to 1-6 on the season, while Trinity improved to 6-1.
The Saints will host the University of Rochester in their home opener on Saturday, March 30 at 12 p.m.
