The St. Lawrence University baseball team fell to Bethel, 13-3, on Thursday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida.

Nicholas Butler led the Saints with a 2-for-3 day at the plate with two runs scored. Joe DeGuardia finished 1-for-3 and drove in two of the Saints' three runs on the afternoon.

Bethel took an early lead with three runs on three hits in the top of the first, but St. Lawrence answered with a pair in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit to one run at 3-2.

DeGuardia drove in both of the Saints' runs in the first inning with a two-out double to left that brought Nicholas Butler and Evan O'Keefe in to score.

Bethel tacked on another run – the eventual game-winning run - in the top of second on an error to take a 4-2 lead.

Nicholas Butler scored St. Lawrence's third and final run in the third inning on an RBI groundout by classmate Andrew Circelli.

Bethel went on to score nine more runs in the latter innings, including five in the sixth en route to the final 13-3 margin.

Saints' starter Alex Black threw five innings in the loss, while Liam Reiner, Kalani Zehr, Loondy Lopez and Sam Putney each pitched an inning in relief.
