Sophomore Luke Hicks scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, but Union topped the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team 97-84 in Liberty League action on Saturday evening in Schenectady, New York.

Hicks shot 9-for-14 from the floor and an impressive 4-for-5 from 3-point range and recorded three steals to lead the Saints. Cale Sargent added 12 points, while Andrew Geschickter and Trent Adamson finished with 11 and 10, respectively. Chris Jeffrey totaled six rebounds for the Saints, while Adamson tallied a career-high four blocks.

After three ties and eight lead changes, the Saints went on a 10-0 run and took a 31-20 lead on a 3-pointer from Hicks with 5:42 remaining in the first half. St. Lawrence held onto the lead until Union's Kevin Jefferson and Mike Manley netted back-to-back 3-pointers in the final 32 seconds to give the Dutchmen a 42-39 lead at the break.

Brian Noone pushed Union's lead to 10 points within the opening minutes of the second half, but the Saints rallied and tied the game 54-54 after Brandon Arnold completed the 3-point play.

The Dutchmen regained control and extended their lead back to double digits on a 3-pointer from Jefferson with 3:33 to play. An 8-0 run gave Union a 95-79 advantage and the Dutchmen shot 6-for-6 from the line for the win.

Manley led the Dutchmen with 29 points, shooting 8-for-14 from the floor and 7-for-13 from 3-point range, while Jefferson recorded 23 points and Nate Freeman finished with 15. Jackson Mannix and Rhona Eseyade each grabbed nine rebounds, while Eseyade tallied four blocks and Manley recorded seven assists.

St. Lawrence shot 50 percent from the floor and 52.9 percent from the arc and recorded 21 points off turnovers, and despite the score, held Union to 44.4 percent from the floor and 42.1 from the arc.

The Dutchmen improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Saints fell to 1-5 and 0-2.

The Saints will face Clarkson on Tuesday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Potsdam.
