Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Levy, Sibanda Score; Saints Defeat Dutchmen 2-0

First-years Miles Levy and Marvin Sibanda scored to lift the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Union in Liberty League action at Sandy MacAllaster Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Levy, who scored his third goal of the season, capitalized on a quick pass from Robert Reynolds to give the Saints an early 1-0 in the 19th minute of play.

Sibanda scored his fourth of the season, after curving the ball around the Dutchmen's defensive wall, on a free kick for the 2-0 lead in the 65th minute.

The Saints held the Dutchmen to just one shot for the final 25 minutes of play.

"A very good win for the entire team," said head coach Mike Toshack. "Many players contributed today and I thought the players managed the game well and were full value for the 2-0 win. We look forward getting ready and turn our attention to RIT on Saturday."

Jeremy Conn and Evan Farr each recorded a shot on goal for the Dutchmen.

Ben Woelfinger made two saves for the Saints, while Union's Trevor Krupp finished with five.

The Scarlet and Brown finished with a 14-5 shot advantage, including a 7-2 lead in shots on goal. The Saints also took five corner kicks to Union's one.

St. Lawrence improved to 4-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play, while Union fell to 8-3-0 and 1-3-0, respectively.

The Saints will host RIT on Saturday, October 12 at 1 p.m.
