Katie Frederick recorded her 11th double-double of the season to lead the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team to an 83-46 win over Bard in Liberty League play on Saturday afternoon in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
The Saints snapped a six-game slide and improved to 7-11 overall and 4-7 in Liberty League play, while Bard fell to 5-12 and 0-11.
Frederick scored 20 points, shooting 7-for-12 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line, grabbed 13 rebounds and recorded six blocks, while
Ava McCann shot 4-for-7 from the arc and finished with 18 points and
Chelsea Van Tassel grabbed 10 rebounds.
St. Lawrence opened play with an 8-0 run and quickly accumulated a double-digit lead after the first ten minutes of play. The Saints outscored Bard 23-12 in the second frame and held a 48-24 lead at halftime.
The Saints dominated the second half, outscoring the Raptors 35-22 for the win.
"The way the schedule aligned this year, we just finished a stretch of five straight road games against the top five teams in our league," said head coach
Dan Roiger. "Even though we weren't getting any wins, we still kept getting better. It's a credit to our players that they never threw in the towel and just kept working. I'm so happy for them that they could be rewarded with a nice victory today."
Christina Kiser led the Raptors with 18 points, while Jess Rylander added 14 and Olivia Couture finished with a team-best six rebounds.
The SaintsÂ
outrebounded Bard 48-31, shot 51.5% from the floor and held Raptors to 29.3% shooting. St. Lawrence finished with 26 points off turnovers and 38 points off the bench.
St. Lawrence will return home to Burkman Gymnasium to take on William Smith and RIT on February 1 and 2, respectively.
