Naclerio scored 21 points and two other members of the St. Lawrence University men's basketball team netted double digits as the Saints defeated Hobart 73-62 in Liberty League play to remain on top of the conference standings on Friday evening in Geneva, New York.
The Saints posted their sixth straight win and improved to 11-5 on the season and 8-1 in conference play, while Hobart fell to 9-7 and 6-3.
Naclerio scored 21 points and was 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
Ben Crawford scored 16 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while
Luke Hicks added 13 points.
The Saints opened the game with a 27-10 run in the first 12 minutes, and held a 40-32 lead at the half.
Hobart cut the lead to four just over a minute into the second half, but was never able to cut the lead to less than three, and the Saints shot 10-for-12 from the free-throw line in the final 3:07 to close out the game.
"We came out really focused on defense," said head coach
Chris Downs. "Hobart is explosive offensively and we did a nice job of finishing plays with rebounds. Now we continue to work hard and get ready for another weekend on the road."
Jamal Lucas led Hobart with 20 points, while Colin Dougherty finished with 17 points and five rebounds and
Sean McKinless scored 11 points.
St. Lawrence shot 50 percent from the floor and held Hobart to 41.1 % shooting. The Saints scored 21 points off the bench and recorded 12 points off turnovers. Hobart also finished with 12 points off turnovers.
St. Lawrence will hit the road again this weekend to face Vassar and Bard on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Game times are set for 7 p.m. against the Brewers and 4 p.m. against the Raptors.
