Saints Shutout Cardinals, Remain Undefeated

Marge Terhune and Katie Clemmer each recorded a goal to lead the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team to a 2-0 non-conference win over the Plattsburgh State Cardinals to remain undefeated on the season on Tuesday evening in Plattsburgh, New York.

Clemmer led the Saints with seven shots on goal, while Terhune and Isabel Silvia recorded three each and Julia Mulhern added two.

Plattsburgh's Amanda Steinmen looked to put the Cardinals on the board first but sent a free kick just high in the 15th minute of play.

Just over a minute later, Katie Clemmer lofted a header shot into the hands of Plattsburgh goalkeeper Taylor Adams.

Clemmer, firing on all cylinders got two more shots on goal knocked down by Adams at 21:53 and 27:17. Adams then tipped a shot from Mulhern over the cross bar in the 38th minute of play.

Mulhern then took the Saints' corner kick, passed the ball off to Terhune, who sent a shot on net, for her first goal of the season giving the Saints a 1-0 lead.

Saints' goalkeeper Samantha Allen kept the Cardinals scoreless as she punched a shot from Steinman over the crossbar in the 60th minute.

Just over a minute later, Arment sent a pass up to Clemmer, who spun around and landed a high shot inside the upper left corner to put the Saints up 2-0 with her fourth goal of the season.

"The team was outstanding all around the field today," said head coach Sinead McSharry. "It was a fun game to watch and be apart of. Both teams created some good opportunities on goal, but our players stepped up when needed."

Allison Seidman and Abigail Seamans led Plattsburgh with two shots on goal each, while Jessica Mangieri, Katie Matott and Steinman all recorded one.

St. Lawrence outshot the Cardinals 25-11 and held a 17-7 shots on goal advantage.
