Katie Frederick finished the 2018 portion of the Saints' schedule with her seventh double-double of the season, scoring a season-high 25 points and grabbing 19 rebounds, but the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team fell to Salve Regina 63-54 in the consolation game of the Judy Pearson Memorial Tournament in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday afternoon.
Frederick shot 9-for-18 from the floor and went 7-for-9 from the line to lead the Saints' squad, while
Annabella Pugliese finished with nine points and five rebounds for the Scarlet and Brown.
Erin Kumler totaled seven points, which ranked third in the lineup.
After a back and forth battle through the start of the first quarter, the Seahawks managed a 14-9 lead over the Saints after 10 minutes.
St. Lawrence outscored Salve Regina 18-14 in the second quarter and almost managed a comeback, but the Seahawks held a slight 28-27 advantage at halftime.
The Seahawks went on to outscore the Saints 35-25 in the second half for the win.
Mary Rorke shot 5-for-10 from the floor to lead the Seahawks with 15 points and four rebounds, while Kerri Beland added 13 points and another four rebounds. Torie Scorpio and Olivia Valerio also netted double digits for Salve Regina adding 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Frederick earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.
With the loss, the Saints fell to 5-5 on the season, while Salve Regina improved to 4-7 overall.
St. Lawrence will return to Liberty League play this weekend, facing Bard on Friday, January 4 and Vassar on Saturday, January 5. Game times are set for 5 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
