Dede Receives USC First-Team All-America Honors

Senior captain and midfielder Jethro Dede earned United Soccer Coaches (USC) NCAA Division III First-Team All-America honors as announced by the organization Thursday evening.

Dede, who was named Liberty League Player of the Year and received Liberty League First-Team honors for the second straight year also earned USC First-Team All-East Region honors. Dede helped guide the Saints to their 22nd NCAA appearance (third in the last four years) and their 16th Liberty League Championship title and was a critical component of the Saints' game plan all season.

"I'm extremely happy for Jethro for receiving such an outstanding honor for his outstanding play over the course of his career at St. Lawrence," said head coach Mike Toshack. "Jethro has a very professional approach to his training, which allows him to perform at a high level and with consistency. The best compliment I can give Jethro is that he reminds me so much of Portland Timber's midfielder Diego Chara in the MLS, in regards to his tenacity and will to win. Everyone is excited for Jethro, as he now focuses on a career in the professional game."

Dede is the first player to earn All-America honors for the Saints in recent years. Harry Copeland '16 was the last player to receive All-America honors in 2015.

A total of 98 players (49 men, 49 women) in NCAA Division III soccer received All-America recognition this year.
