Juniors Tapshak Augustine and Ryan Crouse scored their first goals of the season as the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team topped Clarkson 2-0 Tuesday evening in Potsdam, New York and remain undefeated in Liberty League play.

Augustine received a pass from about 35 yards out and defeated two defenders and beat diving Golden Knights' goalkeeper Ian Roeloffs to the lower corner with a left-footed shot during the 12th minute of play.

Crouse added an insurance goal for the Saints as he headed the ball to the top left hand corner of the net off a corner kick from first year Miguel Ridruejo just about seven minutes later.

Augustine's goal served as the game winner as the Saints kept the Golden Knights scoreless for the remainder of regulation. Clarkson outshot the Saints 10-9 and held a 7-4 shots on goal advantage. Mack Walton led the Golden Knights with two shots on goal.

"We're really happy with the win tonight over Clarkson," said head coach Mike Toshack. "Clarkson is a well coached team and Chris Taylor has a team that is organized and plays well together. The difference was two moments, a well taken goal by Tapshak and then Ryan with a nice set piece. The boys worked really hard to get themselves ready after 110 minutes in the heat on Saturday and a number of players contributed to the win and helped us remain undefeated in the Liberty League."

St. Lawrence goalkeeper Mike Smith recorded seven saves for the shut out, while Roeloffs made two saves for Clarkson.

The Saints improved to 3-4-2 on the season and 1-0-1 in Liberty League play. Clarkson fell to 5-4 and 1-1. With the win, the Saints boast an all-time record of 43-13-5 against the Golden Knights. 

Up next, the Saints travel to Ithaca Saturday Sept. 30th to take on the Bombers at 3 p.m.
