RIT Completes Series Sweep with Shutout Wins

RIT posted back-to-back shutout wins on Sunday afternoon to sweep the Saints baseball team in a Liberty League doubleheader at Tiger Stadium in Rochester, New York.

The Tigers won game one 8-0 and followed with a 5-0 win in game two to complete the sweep of the four-game series.

Anthony Butler led the Saints with a combined three hits in the two games, including a double in game two. St. Lawrence was held to seven total hits on Sunday.

With the losses, the Saints drop to 10-18 overall and 8-10 in Liberty League games and are currently sixth in the conference standings with four games to play, as they'll host Vassar to close out the regular season on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7. RIT holds steady in the top spot at 25-7 overall and 18-1 against league opponents.

Game 1 –
Eight runs, all in the first inning, helped the Tigers shut out the Saints for the second consecutive game on Sunday afternoon.

Michael LeFevre, Anthony Butler and Evan O'Keeffe each recorded a hit for St. Lawrence. The Saints left five runners on base.

RIT took the 8-0 lead on eight hits in the top of the opening frame, including a two-run triple from Daniel Capra en route to the win.

Starter Evan Reichel was charged with all eight runs in the loss as he gave up eight hits and walked two batters in two thirds of an inning. Reliever Louis LaCivita pitched five and a third innings of scoreless baseball and gave up just one hit to shut down the Tigers. Charlie Pacilio pitched the seventh inning for St. Lawrence, allowing two hits.

Jameson Moran threw the complete-game shutout for RIT for his fifth win of the year and allowed just three hits with 11 strikeouts.

Game 2 –

St. Lawrence trailed 2-0 when he was a relieved by Alex Black after putting two runners on to start the seventh. Clarke was charged with four of the Tigers' five runs on the day.

Black faced two batters in the frame and issued back-to-back walks before we have replaced by Will Fellows. Fellow finished the game on the mound for St. Lawrence, going two and two-thirds innings and allowing three hits, no runs and recording a pair of strikeouts.

Butler finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double in the bottom of the seventh inning. A groundout by Mic Regan in the Saints' next at bat moved Butler to third but that's as close as the Saints would come to manufacturing a run.
