Ten different members of the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team scored as the Saints posted their first win of the season, defeating SUNY Canton 16-4 on Monday afternoon at North Country Field.

Alexandra LaMotte led the Saints with three goals and one assist.
Kara Hurley,
Ashley Norris,
Julia Mitiguy and
Olivia Slade each added two goals for the Saints.
Kiera Taussig,
Emma Jewett,
Emma Owens,
Greta Massey and
Brooke Kelly each contributed one. Taussig also caused five turnovers and picked up three ground balls.

The Saints got out to a blazing start, scoring nine goals in the first half — including a man-down goal from Mitiguy with just under 17 minutes to play. SUNY Canton's MaryClare Bowes scored back-to-back goals with less than five minutes to play in the first half to draw the game within four, 8-4, but the Saints closed the game with an 8-0 run.

St. Lawrence scored two man-down goals and outshot the Roos, 35-15. The Roos' Becca Kieffer made 11 saves, while
Cricket Wemyss and
Olga Lukas combined to make five saves for the Saints.

"It was a great group effort for the win today," said head coach
Ashley Pike. "I'm proud of how each of the girls performed."

SUNY Canton was led by Bowes, who scored three of the Roos' four goals, while Allison Auger added the fourth. Amanda Woods caused four turnovers and picked up four ground balls.

The Saints moved to 1-2 on the season, while the Roos fell to 0-1.

St. Lawrence returns to action Wednesday evening, taking on Middlebury at 5:30 p.m. at North Country Field.
