Senior defenseman Gavin Bayreuther has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Texas Stars, the American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Dallas stars, as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.

Bayreuther led the Saints in scoring for the second straight year as a senior with eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points in 30 games played. He finished his St. Lawrence career as the program leader in goals by a defenseman with 35 while also adding 76 assists for 111 points.

The Canaan, N.H. native was the ECAC Hockey Co-Rookie of the Year in 2013-14, is a two-time All-ECAC Hockey selection and earned All-America honors for the Saints following the 2015-16.

"Head coach Mark Morris and his staff at St. Lawrence University have done a tremendous job developing Gavin's game," said Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill. "Gavin is a smart player with a great hockey sense who is able to create offense from the back end and we look forward to him continuing his development at the professional level."

Bayreuther, who was undrafted, signed as an unrestricted free agent. He is expected to join the Texas Stars in Ohio this weekend for a pair of games against the Cleveland Monsters on Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18.
