Brooke Webster and Kennedy Marchment both scored a goal and added an assist to lead the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 5-2 win over Rensselaer in an ECAC Hockey contest on Saturday afternoon at Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y.

Marchment's goal proved to be the game-winner, as she gave the Saints a 3-2 lead just 11 seconds after the Engineers' Shayna Tomlinson tied the game, 2-2, with RPI's second power play goal of the game.

"It's always a very competitive game at Houston Field House, and tonight's game was exactly what we are used to seeing here," said head coach Chris Wells '92. "We scored some timely goals and had a fantastic 5-on-3 penalty kill at the end. It was another playoff type game that comes with our league at this time of year. We had some super efforts all the way down the bench to get the win."

Webster got the Saints on the board five minutes into the game, scoring her 16th goal of the season off an assist from Hannah Miller.

RPI's Katie Rooney tied the game in the first minute of the second period, but Justine Reyes gave the Saints a 2-1 lead off an assist from Kayla Nielsen less than five minutes later.

Webster and Miller earned assists on Marchment's goal, which was also her 16th of the year.

Amanda McClure gave the Saints a two-goal lead with a power play goal near the midway point of the third period off assists from Alex Moore and Nadine Edney, and Kayla Vespa put the game away with an empty netter off a pass from Marchment in the game's final minute.

The Saints had a 39-18 advantage in shots on goal; Grace Harrison made 16 saves for the Saints, and Lovisa Selander stopped 34 shots for the Engineers.

With the win, the Saints improved to 21-3-2, 13-2-1 in ECAC Hockey contests, while Rensselaer fell to 9-17-2, 6-9-1. With just six games remaining in the regular season, St. Lawrence remains in second place in the conference standings, just two points behind Clarkson and four points ahead of third-place Cornell, which tied Harvard, 2-2.

The Saints go back on the road next weekend to face Harvard and Dartmouth.
