Hamilton baseball built an insurmountable 8-0 lead through the first two innings against St. Lawrence on Tuesday afternoon en route to an 18-2 win over the Saints in a nonconference game in Clinton, N.Y.
Sophomore
Isaac Lewis led the Scarlet and Brown with two of the team's seven hits on the afternoon and an RBI in the fourth inning.
Kyle MacDonald and
Erik Larsen each finished with a run in the contest.
Trailing 8-0 in the top of the fourth, MacDonald doubled to lead off the inning before Lewis singled with one out for the Saints first run.
After Hamilton extended its lead to 16-1 heading into the seventh, the Saints manufactured another run with two outs in the top of the frame. Larsen doubled and stole third before pinch-hitter
Anthony Butler was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners for sophomore
Tyler Guido, who also came to the plate as a pinch hitter.
Guido struck out swinging but reached first on a passed ball that allowed everyone to advance, including Larsen who came across for the Saints second and final run of the afternoon.
The Continentals finished with 17 hits to St. Lawrence's seven, including a pair of home runs.
St. Lawrence, now 9-17 on the season, will play host to Union on Saturday and Sunday in a Liberty League doubleheader at Tom Fay Field. Game times on Saturday are set for 1:00 and 4:00 p.m., while Sunday's games will be played at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.
