Caroline Dalton scored 18 points on the strength of four 3-pointers and Lauren Quattrocchi netted 15 points and had a team leading four assists but it was not enough as the St. Lawrence University Women's Basketball team dropped a 63-54 decision to Clarkson Wednesday night in a Liberty League Tournament semifinal matchup at Potsdam.
St. Lawrence (16-10) had an early 8-2 lead and led 12-11 after the first quarter and then outscored the Knights (21-5) by a 17-11 margin in the second quarter to take a 29-22 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Knights rallied to win the third quarter 23-13 to take a three-point lead into the final quarter.
A Quattrocchi 3-pointer followed by a Dalton 3-pointer early in the final period cut the lead to two points at 50-48. After Clarkson regained a six-point lead, Dalton hit two more 3-pointers to cut the lead to four-points at 58-54 with 2:14 to play.
The Knights connected on five of six free throws in the closing seconds to seal the victory.
Dalton's 18 led the Saints and her seven rebounds tied with Ellie Gonyeau for the team lead. Quattrocchi had 15 points and her four assists gave her 156 for the season setting a new school record for assists in a season.
Kaelyn Kohlasch added eight points and had three assists for the Saints.
