Knights Sweep Saints in 2015 Finale

May 3: On the final day of the 2015 season the St. Lawrence baseball team played its third extra-inning game in five days and it's second against Clarkson this weekend, falling 8-7 in nine innings to the Golden Knights in game one before being handed a 13-5 loss in game two. The Saints had an early lead in both games, but Clarkson battled back for the sweep.

St. Lawrence finishes the season with a 16-21 overall record and was 7-16 in conference games, while Clarkson improves to 23-7 and 16-6.

Trailing 1-0 through two innings, the Saints scored five runs on six hits in the top of the third to take the lead.

Andrew Schreyack, Jake Levin and Mic Regan strung together three straight singles before Chris Fernandez ripped a two-RBI double to right field.  After Regan scored on a wild pitch and Mark Syron was intentionally walked, Isaac Lewis hit a double of his own to left to plate another run for the Saints and Adam Reichel followed with a single that scored Syron to make it 5-1.

The Golden Knights responded with three runs on three hits in the bottom half of the frame to cut the visitors' lead to 5-4 and plated the game-tying run in the fourth on an RBI single by Matt Jenack.

Tom Sullivan pinch-ran for Schreyack in the sixth inning and came home on a single to center field by Regan to help St. Lawrence regain a 6-5 lead.

Clarkson answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-6 in favor of the Golden Knights heading into the final inning.

Lewis walked and Reichel singled to left to put runners on the corners for Devin Robson. Robson it into what looked to be a double play, but the sophomore hustled down the line to beat out the throw and keep the inning alive, allowing Lewis to score the game-tying run.

Clarkson left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to send the game to extras.

But they would capitalize on a walk to lead off the bottom of the ninth as a sac bunt and single to center brought Connor Dietrich home as the game-winning run.

Regan, Fernandez and Adam Reichel each had two hits in the first game, while Fernandez led the Saints with two RBI.

Will Fellows, who was the fourth pitcher used by Head Coach Pete Hoy in the contest, took the loss. He threw one and one-third innings and allowed two hits and the winning run. Sam Downes started on the mound in game one, going three and a third and allowing five runs on eight hits with two strikeouts. Liam Rogers and Frank Grady, who made his third appearance this week, also pitched in the contest.

In game two, St. Lawrence scored four runs in the top of the first on three hits, two walks and a hit by pitch to take the early lead.

With two runners on and two outs, Reichel singled through the right side to plate Syron and then Robson singled to left to score Lewis. After Michael LeFevre walked, Kyle Liszewski hit a two-RBI single to right for the final runs of the inning.

Clarkson scored three runs on two hits in the bottom half of the frame and would go on to add 10 more through the next three innings; including four runs a piece in the second and third en route to the eventual 13-5 win.

Starter Jake Farrell took the loss for the Saints, as he allowed six runs on three hits with three walks and one strikeout in an inning and two-thirds.

Reichel and Liszewski led St. Lawrence in the contest, both had two hits while Reichel scored two runs and Liszewski drove in two runs.
