2017: One of the Saints conference starters as a senior, Downes finished with a 2-4 record in eight appearances, including seven starts, with three complete games…He led the staff in innings pitched (42.0) and strikeouts (33), held opponents to a .267 batting average and finished with a 4.50 ERA…Downes also picked off two runners…He was named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team.

2016: Downes made seven starts for the Saints in his junior season with one complete game shutout against Bard on April 9...In 37.1 innings pitched he recorded 23 strikeouts and held opponents to a .282 batting average...Downes finished the season with a 2-3 record and 5.79 ERA...He was also named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team.

2015: Downes pitched 44.1 innings through eight starts with three complete games and a 3-3 record...He finished the season with a 6.29 ERA and struck out 24 batters.

2014: Through eight appearances in his rookie season, Downes posted a 2.84 ERA in 12.2 innings pitched...He struck out eight batters and allowed just one extra-base hit to opponents.

Prior to St. Lawrence
Downes played soccer, basketball and baseball and Northfield Mount Hermon and was a team captain...He was a honor roll student and made the Merit List.
