Prior to St. Lawrence

Gilbert was a member of the track and field and cross country teams at Westbury High School. A captain of the track team, she earned All-County, All-Conference, and All-Division honors, and was also an Elsa "Zu" Proly and Scholar-Athlete Award winner. She also excelled in the classroom as a Principal's Honor Roll student and earned membership in the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and the Art Honor Society. She earned third place in the STEP Conference Behavioral Sciences Senior Division and was enrolled in the Cradle of Aviation STEM program.
