Prior to St. Lawrence

Benkert was a four-year member of the varsity swimming and track and field teams at Highland High School. She was a three-year captain of the swim team and served as captain of the track team as a senior. Also a swimmer for the Hawks Swimming Association and New Paltz Seahwaks club teams, Benkert was a high honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society and the National French Honor Society.
