Biography
2012: Sayward finished with eight goals, including two game-winners, and two assists for 18 points in her senior season. The Saints' top goal scorer for the fourth consecutive year, Sayward earned Liberty League Second Team All-Conference honors and was an All-Academic selection. The Derry, NH native concludes her four-year career with 77 points (30 goals, 17 assists) in 65 games ranked fourth all-time in Saints women's soccer history in both assists and points, and is fifth in career goals scored. A major in neuroscience, she is a member of SLU EMS, Circle K and SLU Buddies.
2011: The Saints leading scorer with ten goals and four assists for 24 points including a pair of game-winning goals, Stephanie was named second team All Liberty League in addition to being on the Liberty League All Academic team. She moved into 10th on the Saint all-time women's soccer scoring list with 22 goals and 15 assists for 59 points with a full season to play. She had two two-goal games, a two-goal, one assist outing against SUNYIT and scored both goals in a 2-2 tie with Plattsburgh. She scored the overtime winner at Skidmore and the winner in a 1-0 win over nationally-ranked Union.
2010: Stephanie had another outstanding season for the Saints as a sophomore, leading the team in scoring with 16 points. She scored six goals and assisted on four others and had two game winners. She also earned Liberty League All Academic honors. She scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Geneseo and also had the game-winner in a 1-0 win at RIT. She had a goal and an assist in a 5-0 win over Simmons and also had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win at Potsdam.
2009: Stephanie had a spectacular rookie season for the Saints and was a candidate for Liberty League Rookie of the Year. She earned Liberty League honorable mention honors after leading the Saints in scoring with six goals and seven assists for 19 points. She scored the game winning goals against Oswego and Norwich and had an assist on the game winner against Castleton and an assist on the game-tying goal against William Smith. She had a five point game with two goals and an assist against Norwich in a 3-0 win and also had two goals in a 4-0 win over RPI. She was Liberty League Rookie of the Week Sept. 7 and Oct. 26. She is a member of SLU Buddies, works with the NYSARC and is a SLU Emergency Medical Technician.
At Pinkerton Academy: A three-sport standout who played basketball and lacrosse in addition to soccer, Sayward was a captain of the soccer team as a senior and earned second team All State honors. She was the Merrimack Valley Female Scholar-Athlete Award winner in basketball, and Academic All America in lacrosse. She also won the New Hampshire Female Athletic-Academic Award and the Pinkerton Female Senior Athlete of the Year. Sayward was a member of the National Honor Society, the Foreign Language Honor Society and an honors graduate.
