Prior to St. Lawrence

O'Connell was a three sport athlete at Morristown-Beard School, participating on the field hockey, ice hockey, and lacrosse teams...She captained the ice hockey team and was awarded the Harry Rulon-Miller award of excellence in sportsmanship... She also played for the New Jersey Colonials ice hockey team and was an honor roll student.
