Chelsea Welch has joined the St. Lawrence University women's basketball staff as a graduate assistant coach.
 
Welch joins the Saints after playing professional basketball in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. In Portugal, Welch competed at the highest professional level, trained youth in skill development, led the conference in scoring and held the record for the most points scored in a single game during the 2018-19 season.
 
Prior to her time overseas, Welch played Division I basketball for Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio. She was named the Horizon League Player of the Year in 2018, was a two-time First-Team honoree and was a co-captain, a letter winner, started every game and was the leading scorer in the Horizon League from 2016-2018.
 
Welch also worked as a Facility Assistant during her time at Wright State was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and completed a Marketing and Communication Internship within the athletic department. She helped coach at the Wright State women, the "Make Plays Today" camp and was a Dayton Metro AAU Assistant from 2014-2019.
