Waters, a 2021 graduate of the University of Redlands in California, graduated cum laude with degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Science. As an athlete for the Bulldogs, he twice earned All-Region in the heptathlon, was runner-up in the conference high jump, and third place in long jump and javelin. He was named a 2021 Academic All-American and earned the University of Redlands Scholar-Athlete Award.
After graduating, Waters worked as an assistant coach with the La Salle Catholic College Prep track & field team and worked with a range of events, including hope vault, hurdles, and throws.
