Track and field alumnus Jake Fredericks '13, M'15 returned to St. Lawrence as a full-time assistant coach for both the men's and women's track and field teams in August, 2016, one year after leaving at the end of his time as a graduate assistant coach.

Fredericks, who captained the indoor and outdoor track and field teams for the Saints as a senior, holds the University record in both the 60m and the 110m hurdles and earned a bid to the NCAA Championships his senior season in the latter. His 60m hurdle time also stands as a Liberty League record.

While serving as a graduate assistant for the Saints, Fredericks coached national qualifiers and program record holders in eight individual events, as well as two relay teams. Additionally, he was instrumental in the success of the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship which St. Lawrence hosted in Canton.

The Ogdensburg, N.Y. native graduated from St. Lawrence with a degree in government and philosophy. He was the recipient of the Ronald C. Hoffmann Outstanding First-Year Student-Athlete award following his rookie season, was the president of Phi Sigma Tau, the philosophy honorary, and earned a fellowship in the summer of 2012. He was also the recipient of the Augsbury North Country Scholarship and the Community Service Scholarship.
