Gallagher was a four-year student-athlete on the SUNY Canton men's soccer team where he started 44 of the 56 matches he appeared in. The Potsdam native posted 31 points on 10 goals and 11 assists during his career. His breakout season came during his sophomore year when he was second on the team with seven goals on his way to being named a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Honorable Mention All-American. Gallagher was also a three-time member of the USCAA All-Academic Team and following his junior year was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as a Scholar All-East Region recipient.
Gallagher earned his National Coaching Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in 2014, as well as his Level 1 and Level 2 goalkeeping diplomas from the NSCAA in 2015. Gallagher now holds a Class F Coachng License throught the United States Soccer Federation.
Gallagher previously worked at SUNY Canton as the goalkeeping coach for the women's team and the assistant coach for the men's program. During his time at Canton the women's freshman goalkeeper received USCAA Player of the Week, ECAC North Defensive Player of the Week and Second Team DIII All-Independent Team honors. He assisted the men's team to a 7-12-1 record and improvement from 4-14 in 2015. Two players received First-Team DIII All-Independent Team and three players earned Third-Team DIII All-Independent Team accolades.Â
Gallagher also served as the head coach of the Parisvhille boys U-15 travel team in 2015 as well as the U-12 boys FC Freeze in the summer of 2016. In 2017, he was the head coach for the U-17 and U-14 boys FC Freeze teams.Â
