Engstrom was a tri-sport athlete, playing on the lacrosse, golf and volleyball teams. A member of the National Honor Society, he captained the golf team and helped the lacrosse squad to the 2011 New York State championship. Engstrom was named All-League and helped the team back to the state finals in his senior year.
