Prior to St. Lawrence

Cal played hockey and lacrosse at Rye and was a all-state hockey player as a junior and senior and captain of the hockey team as a senior at Rye High School. He was all-league in lacrosse as a senior and led the team in points as both a junior and senior. He earned honor roll as a senior and received the President Obama Service Award.
