Biography

2017-18: The team's leading scorer as a senior, Marnell finished with 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points in 31 games played...He recorded six multi-point games and had a six-game points streak from December 8 to January 6, with four goals and three assists during that stretch...He was named the team's most valuable player at the end of the season and was also named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team.

2016-17: Marnell had a breakout season offensively for the Saints with career highs in goals (15), assists (12) and points (27), including 15 points in conference games, and finished second on the team in scoring…He became the first player to score four goals in a game since 1996 and the first to record a hat trick since 2014 in the Saints 7-2 win over Brown on Nov. 19…Marnell led the Saints in both power play goals, with four, and shorthanded goals, with three…He also finished tied for the team lead at a +12.

2015-16: Missed the first four due to injury and returned to the lineup against Miami...Scored two in game two of the Miami series...Had a goal each night at Penn State...Assisted on the game winner against Union...Had a four game scoring streak snapped by RPI...Had two assists at Princeton...Scored two against Vermont including his second career game winner...Injured against Clarkson, returned to action at RPI and set up the game winner as part of a two assist night..

2014-15: Marnell was the leading rookie scorer for the Saints and finished fifth among all ECAC rookies in point production...He had 11 goals and six assists for 17 points in 32 games, missing five games in November due to injury...Three of his goals came in the playoffs with two and an assist in game two of the quarterfinals against RPI and the other in the semifinals against Colgate...He was ECAC Rookie of the Week Jan. 27 after scoring the overtime winner against Yale at home an adding another against Brown and again following the RPI playoff series.

Prior to St. Lawrence 
Marnell played two seasons at Des Moines and had 14 goals and 10 assists in 44 games last year...He was a member of the national championship under 16 team and the Catholic State Champion St. Anthony's team in 2012, earning the high school Hobey Baker Award...He also played golf in high school and was a honor roll student...He is the son of Russ and Sue Marnell.
