The younger brother of senior wing Greg Carey, Matt attended St. Lawrence in 2012-13, but was unable to play under NCAA eligibility rules. He will start his collegiate career with the 2013-14 season and will have four years of eligibility. He scored 69 points in 46 games between Hamilton and Toronto in the OHL in his final season of junior hockey with 33 goals and 36 assists. The son of Alan and Debra Carey, he earned Dean's List honors in his first year at SLU.
