Biography

2016-17: Hayton became the program leader in career shutouts with his 10th against Princeton on Nov. 4 and posted five on the season to bring his career total to 13…Also set the program record for ties in a season with six...He was unbeaten in the month of November and was both the ECAC Hockey and HCA National Player of the Month…He finished the season with a 16-12-7 record in with a .929 save percentage and 2.28 goals against average through 35 starts and 2054:12 minutes played...Hayton was named ECAC Hockey's Ken Dryden Goaltender of the Year and was the first Saint to win the award since 1999...He was a First Team All-ECAC Hockey selection and a Second-Team CCM/AHCA East Region All-American...He also earned the ECAC Hockey Media Association's Goaltender of the Year Award and was a First-Team All-ECACHMA selection.

2015-16: Named a pre-season All-America and to the watch list for the Mike Richter
Award...Made a game-saving save in overtime in the win at UNH...Stopped 57 of 61 shots in the split with Miami...Got his first night off in game one of the Penn State series and made a season high 38 saves in game two for his 25th career win...Became the first SLU goalie to shut out Clarkson twice in a career with a 32-save night on Nov. 13...Named the NCAA hockey third star of the week after the Clarkson game...Was ECAC Goalie of the Week and American Sports Network Player of the Week after the Princeton-Quinnipiac weekend...The scoreless tie at Quinnipiac was his seventh career shutout...Matched his season best with 41 saves on 42 shots in the win over Vermont and had another 41 save night at Clarkson...His 33 save night against Yale was the eighth 30-or-more evening of the season...ECAC Goaltender of the Week for the third time after the Colgate-Cornell weekend in which he stopped 70 of 73 shots in a pair of wins...Recorded his third shutout of the year at RPI with the first of back-to-back 34-save nights...Had 33 saves in the win over Quinnipiac...Had 90 saves in the two games against Clarkson, including 50 in game two...Now has a 1.28 goals against average and a .962 save percentage in eight career games against Clarkson.

2014-15: A Mike Richter Award finalist, ECAC Rookie of the Year, second team All-ECAC and the ECAC All-Rookie team goaltender, Hayton had a record-setting season for the Saints in his rookie year and was a key factor in their second-place finish in the ECAC...Hayton finished the season with a 1.95 goals against average and a .937 save percentage, both program records, and also set the SLU record for shutouts in a season with five...He was ECAC Rookie of the Month for October, November and January, Goalie of the Month for January and was ECAC Rookie of the Week and ECAC Goalie of the Week twice...He became the second goalie in program history to shut out Clarkson in Potsdam...He had a string of 12 straight games in which he allowed two or fewer goals...Had a season high of 51 saves at Miami.

Prior to St. Lawrence
A member of two National U-18 championship teams and the NARCH Roller Hockey National Championship team, Kyle was a USHL All-Star team member in 2013...He had a 2.29 goals againsts average and a .932 save percentage for Sioux City...He attended Shattuck St. Mary's and played soccer and lacrosse, earning high academic honors...He is the son of Lewis and Kristen Hayton.
