Jared DeMichiel

Former Rochester Institute of Technology goaltender Jared DeMichiel was named men’s assistant hockey coach in August of 2014.

DeMichiel, who was the assistant coach at Nazareth replaced Kris Mayotte, who took an assistant position at Providence in mid-summer. DeMichiel, originally from Harwinton, CT, assisted Nazareth coach George Roll in building that program and was the RIT goalie during their run to the Frozen Four in the 2009-10 season.

DeMichiel led all of Division I with 27 victories in his senior year, was second in shutouts with six and seventh in goals against average and eighth in save percentage. In 2010, DeMichiel led the Atlantic Hockey Association in every major statistical category and was a first-team Atlantic Hockey Association all-star selection. He also was named Goaltender of the Year and made the Atlantic Hockey Association all-tournament team.

DeMichiel was named the Most Outstanding Player at the 2010 East Regional and was named the Rochester Press-Radio Club's 2010 Paychex Male College Athlete of the Year.


He went 41-19-2 with a 2.48 goals against average and a .909 save percentage in 66 games for the Tigers. He was 0-2 with a pair of one goal losses in career appearances against SLU. Following graduation he signed with the American Hockey League’s Hersey Bears. He attended NHL training camps with the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins. In addition to Hershey, DeMichiel played with the South Carolina Stingrays, Elmira Jackals, Kalamazoo Wings and Chicago Express of the East Coast Hockey League and with Providence of the AHL.
