Tyler Wollberg was named the Mary A. Lawrence Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Golf in July of 2022.
Most recently, Wollberg was the men’s golf coach at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where he coached three All-GLIAC Honorable-Mention athletes, as well as the Newcomer of the Year in 2021. The Mundelein, Ill., native, was instrumental in designing and fundraising for a $200,000 state-of-the-art golf facility for the Rangers.
Prior to his time with the Rangers, Wollberg served two stints as the Carthage College head women's golf coach. He started as the graduate assistant coach before being promoted to head coach in October of 2011. He led Carthage to back-to-back CCIW Women's Golf Championships in 2013 and 2014 and coached individual champions in 2013, 2014 and 2017. Under Woolberg’s guidance, three student-athletes were named WGCA All-Region and one to a Second Team All-American honor.
Wollberg graduated from Carthage College in 2009 with his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Sports and Exercise Science then earned a Master’s in Education in 2013 with a focus on Classroom Guidance and Counseling/Leadership. He earned Class A Professional status in the PGA of America in 2014 and became a Level-Three Golf Instructor with the Titleist Performance Institute in 2021.
As a player at Carthage College, Wollberg was a three-time NGCA All-American. He set the Carthage record for the lowest one-day score with a 65 at the Sept. 30, 2007 Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invitational, and holds the record for the lowest two-day score of 135. He was named to the College’s Hall of Fame in 2015.
Wollberg takes over for Head Golf Coach Mary Lawrence, who retired from coaching after 23 years with the Scarlet and Brown.
Earlier this spring, St. Lawrence University received a $1.5 million gift from Jan Egbers P'21, who wants to positively impact mental health services on campus and the Laurentian staff members who support students' emotional wellbeing. In accordance with the donor's wishes, the fund also honored the retiring Lawrence by naming the position the ‘Mary A. Lawrence Head Coach for Men's and Women's Golf’. It recognizes the positive impact she had on countless student-athletes throughout her 23 years.
