Sherry Dobbs

Sherry Dobbs returns to the St. Lawrence coaching staff after 13 seasons as head coach for SUNY Potsdam and five seasons as an assistant coach at Ithaca College. Dobbs was an assistant at St. Lawrence for the 1997-98 season when the Saints compiled a 24-2 record and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament quarterfinals.

The 2005 SUNYAC Coach of the Year for the Bears, Dobbs led SUNY Potsdam to more than 100 wins and advanced the team to the NCAA Tournament twice including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2004-05 after winning the SUNYAC regular season and tournament championships.  His 2005-06 team was also the national statistical leader in 3-point field goal percentage.

Dobbs was a four-year letterwinner at SUNY Plattsburgh and helped the Cardinals to consecutive winning seasons in his final two years before graduating with a degree in History. He was a team captain, most improved player award winner and played in two ECAC Tournaments for the Cardinals.

He earned a master’s degree in Secondary Social Studies Education at SUNY Potsdam in 1998.

Dobbs has served as camp co-director for the SUNY Potsdam International Basketball camp and the Can-Am Tournament from 2003-2015 and was co-director of the Gym Rats Camp from 2003-15. He has also worked with the Williams College, LeMoyne College and St. Lawrence University camps.
