Simons played football and was a member of the track and field team at Champlain Valley Union High School. A team captain, Simons was a three-time All-State defender, a two-time All-State honoree on offense, was a Vermont Senior All-Star Game Selection and a VT vs. NH All Star Game Selection. He was a high honor roll student, received the Freshman English Award and earned honor roll accolades.
