Prior to St. Lawrence

Cheer played on both sides of the ball in high school, earning Second-Team All-League honors on both the offensive and defensive lines at Champlain Valley Union. A captain and Vermont North-South Game selection, Cheer was also the captain of the basketball team and helped lead the lacrosse team to a D1 state championship. Cheer was a leader in high school, serving as class president, chairing the athletic leadership council, and earning a spot on the honor roll.
