Prior to St. Lawrence

McLaren was a member of the Alpine skiing, soccer and tennis teams at Profile High School. She was a First-Team All-State honoree and Player of the Year for soccer and is Profile High School's leading goal scorer with 86 goals throughout her career. McLaren was a honor roll student, a member of the National Honor Society and student council.
