In his first year as head coach, Dan Puckhaber led the Saints to a 9-1 record and the team’s second consecutive Liberty League title. The nine wins were the most for the Saints since the 1982 team went 10-1. He coached 15 Liberty League All-Academic student-athletes, 15 All-Liberty League award winners, three players who earned All-East Region honors, two who earned All-ECAC honors and two who were named D3football.com All-America. D3football.com ranked St. Lawrence 24th nationally at the end of the season.
In 2017 and in 2018, Puckhaber's teams posted 2-8 records. In those two seasons, 14 players earned All-Liberty League honors, two earned All-Region honors, and Skyler Williamson '18 was named the Liberty League's Defensive Player of the Year in 2017. In 2018, Puckhaber's passing offense was one of the most dynamic in the nation. Two different quarterbacks set program records, the team set a program records for pass attempts, completions and yards both in a game and for the season, and wide receiver Travis Marnell '19 was a CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District selection.
The Saints built on that success in 2019, posting a 5-5 record and breaking 14 school records. Sophomore quarterback Tyler Grochot broke five of those records, including passing yards, completions and attempts in a season, while junior wide receiver Joseph Viscardo set the program record for touchdown receptions in a season. The Saints returned to the gridiron in 2021 and matched their record from 2019, going 5-5. Seven Saints earned All-Liberty League honors, while offensive lineman Max Warden garnered All-Region and D3football.com All-America honors. Kyle Frimel '21 was tabbed a NFF Scholar-Athlete, while 10 others earned an NFF Honor Society Membership.
