Prior to St. Lawrence

A four-year starter in football, Clausen was the captain at Pelham Memorial his junior and senior year. He was a First-Team All-League selection as a senior and earned the Defensive Lineman of the Year award. Clausen was also the captain of the lacrosse team, earning Honorable Mention All-League honors as a junior and All-League honors as a senior. A high honor roll student every semester in high school, Clausen was a member of the National Honor Society and the English Honor Society.
