First-year Charles Novak shot five-under par to lead the St. Lawrence University men's golf team after round one of the St. Lawrence Fall Invitational at the par-72 Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course in Canton, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.

Novak was just one over par after the front nine and shot six birdies on the back nine to finish round one five-under par with a 67.

Kevin Dillon also came in under par with a 70 and sits in third place after the first round, shooting six birdies. First-year Joey Degnan also sits in the top five tying for fifth place at par.

St. Lawrence's 'A' squad sits in first place after round one at five under with a 283, while Nazareth and Clarkson are tied for second with a 290.
