The St. Lawrence University men's soccer program and head coach Mike Toshack are proud to announce the hiring of Luke van Galen as the team's assistant coach ahead of the upcoming season.

van Galen joins the Scarlet and Brown after earning his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from SUNY Cortland in May 2026.

"I am very excited to have Luke joining our staff," said Toshack. "Luke played his college soccer at a great program at SUNY Cortland and was a member of their coaching staff as a Student Assistant during his time there. We look forward to Luke joining us this Fall and contributing to our program."

Luke, who was a goalkeeper with the Red Dragons, appeared in 22 games in the woodwork and posted a 12-4-2 record with five clean sheets, a 1.25 goals-against average and a .735 save percentage. He pivoted into a student assistant role during his senior year at Cortland where he assisted the coaching staff with training sessions, match preparation, player development, and served as a goalkeeper coach.

Luke got his start in coaching at the Seacoast United Soccer Club, where he coached training sessions and camps for young athletes. Van Galen also served as a Gameday Operations Intern with the Seacoast Phantoms in the USL League Two and assisted with logistics, staff coordination, and event setup.
