Tingley Records Singles Win for Men's Tennis in 6-1 Loss at Rochester

Ryan Tingley earned a point for the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team, but the Saints fell 6-1 to the University of Rochester on Sunday.

Tingley secured a straight-set victory at the No. 6 singles flight, defeating Leo Umansky 6-1, 6-2.

Rochester opened the match by claiming the doubles point. While the St. Lawrence duo of Jake David and Josh David won a close No. 1 flight 7-6 (7-2), Rochester earned 6-2 and 6-3 victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively, to take the early lead.

The Yellowjackets swept the remaining five singles matches to secure the dual-match win. At the top of the lineup, Andy Liu outlasted Josh David in a third-set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-2, 11-9. Rahul Ravi also needed three sets at the No. 2 position to defeat Jake David 1-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Rochester's Aiden Swartz and Josh Chu each contributed points with straight-set wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 flights. Swartz defeated Charles Schepens 6-2, 6-3, while Chu topped Bennett Stout 6-4, 6-2. In the No. 3 flight, Tony Xu won a tight two-set match against Armaan Walia, 7-5, 7-6.

St. Lawrence returns home Saturday to play RIT.
