The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team earned a 7-0 victory over Daemen University on Saturday, sweeping all six singles matches after securing the doubles point.
Through three matches, St. Lawrence hasn't surrendered a flight loss yet and sits 3-0.
In doubles play, the Saints won at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to take a 1-0 lead. The No. 3 pairing of
Kate Butler and
Sarah Oldland won 6-0 against Lily Goodemote and Dania Mehani, while the No. 2 duo of
Abigail Sicuranza and
Ellie Fritz defeated Carly Armitage and Ashley Bonilla 7-5.
Daemen's lone doubles win came at the No. 1 spot, where Marley Conover and Bella Bjerkan defeated Ellie McDermed and Yvett Karera 6-4.
St. Lawrence extended their lead by winning every flight in singles. At the No. 1 position, Yvett Karera defeated Marley Conover 6-2, 6-3. Ellie McDermed won a closely contested match at No. 2, defeating Carly Armitage in straight-set tiebreaks, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-4).
At No. 3,
Ellie Fritz recovered from a first-set loss to defeat Bella Bjerkan 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. The bottom half of the lineup remained perfect for the Saints. Both
Maya Stepic (No. 4) and
Sarah Oldland (No. 5) recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins over Ashley Bonilla and Lily Goodemote, respectively.
Alexandra Fuller completed the sweep at the No. 6 spot with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Dania Mehani.
