The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team remained perfect at Burkman Gymnasium, improving to 6-0 at home and 5-3 in Liberty League play with a 75-60 victory over the RIT Tigers.
Jlin Brown set the tone early, accounting for the team's first three points, followed by a Suriano triple to jump out to a 6-0 lead. While RIT briefly threatened to close the gap, pulling within a single point, the Saints remained composed. St. Lawrence regained control midway through the half, using a barrage of threes from Brown and Suriano to extend the cushion to double digits.
The Saints closed the half on a high note.
Adam Dudzinski converted a pair of free throws with two minutes remaining and then beat the buzzer with a massive three-pointer, sending St. Lawrence into the locker room with a commanding 47-26 lead.
Offensive rhythm was slow to return after the break, as both teams went scoreless for the first three minutes of the second half. Suriano eventually broke the silence with another shot from deep to push the lead to 24.
The Tigers attempted a late surge led by Nigel Pierman and Josiah Turner, who combined for 31 of RIT's 60 points. However, the Saints' efficiency at the charity stripe kept the game out of reach. Anderson was a perfect 8-8 from the line, and
Grady Goodman went 2-2 in the closing moments to seal the win.
With the victory, the Saints move to .500 on the season with an 8-8 overall record.
Colton Suriano and
Connor Parkes tied for the team high with 14 points apiece, while
Dan Anderson followed closely with 13 in a game where 12 different Saints saw floor time.
They look to carry this momentum into tomorrow's matchup against the Ithaca College Bombers, with tipoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
