St. Lawrence University Esports finished out their spring season with their best win/loss record of any season to date, 22-13. With an emotional rollercoaster for the season, St. Lawrence University Esports is beginning to enter what they hope to be a new golden age with some significant differences between their 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons.
The Saints improved their win record from 19-34 to 32-33, secured five NECC playoff appearances compared to three, secured three NECC Nationals appearances compared to zero, and finally won their first NECC Conference Championship, when St. Lawrence Overwatch defeated Thomas College in the Northeastern Division 8 finals 4-1.
Each of our titles is eager to continue this momentum into next year, but recognize the road ahead is long and windy amidst some NECC rule changes that will once again require the Saints to adapt to the evolving collegiate Esports landscape.
The Esports program would like to thank the seven seniors for their hard work and dedication to the team this past year and commend them for their accomplishments in the classroom:Â
Sebastian Soto (League of Legends),
Sirus Minovi (Valorant),
Elwyn Hand (Super Smash),
Henry Julca (Super smash),
Andrew Cichetti (Super Smash),
Logan Thomas (Super Smash) and Erik Staropoli (Rocket League).
Each of these players experienced major growth over the past competitive season, demonstrated superior leadership and communication to their underclassmen, and helped bring St. Lawrence University Esports to a new all-time high.
Final Spring Standings:
Rocket League: 6-1
League of Legends: 6-1
Overwatch: 4-3
Super Smash Bros: 4-3
Valorant: 2-5
