Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Fourth-Quarter Comeback Bid Falls Just Short; No. 2 Saints Narrowly Edged by No. 1 RIT in Liberty League Championship Game

The second-seeded St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team scored five goals in the fourth quarter looking for a comeback, but the top-seeded RIT Tigers held onto a 11-10 win in the 2025 Liberty League Championship game on Sunday afternoon in Rochester, N.Y.

Bobby Wells recorded a hat trick, while Henry Crean tallied two goals and an assist to lead the Saints. Ted Wilson also scored two goals, while Jamie Rosenzweig tallied a goal and two assists. Padraic Condon and Dan Anderson also scored for SLU.

Condon won eight faceoffs and picked up a team-high five ground balls. Rosenzweig and Sam Wade each caused two turnovers.

Wilson broke through first for the Saints but was quickly followed by a pair of Tiger goals to give RIT a 2-1 advantage. The Saints held strong in the first and answered with their own set of goals from Wells and Crean to put SLU up by one. Seth Grottenthaler scored his second goal for the Tigers to tie things up 3-3, by the end of the first quarter.

Grottenthaler added his third goal, marking the lone goal of the second quarter, giving the Tigers a 4-3 edge at the break.

Dinga scored back-to-back to start the third and lead off a four-goal run from the Tigers, as RIT took an 8-3 lead. Crean and Condon scored six seconds apart to come back within three with two minutes to play.

Wilson scored his second of the game off the pass from Rosenzweig to make it 8-6 and shortly after a slashing call sent the Tigers to the box and put the Saints on the man-up for the first time. Rosenzweig scored his 20th of the season to bring St. Lawrence back within one with 11:35 to play in the fourth.

Ryan Bullock scored a pair of goals just about three minutes apart to put the Tigers back up by three with 7:32 remaining. SLU sparked another two-goal run this time from Anderson and Wells making it 10-9 with 4:28. In back-and-forth action, RIT scored and Wells brought it back within one once again on the man up.

Crean got the last shot off for the Saints, but the clock expired on a one-goal win for the Tigers.

"That had everything you want in a championship game," said head coach Mike Mahoney. "Congratulations to RIT. I am really proud of our team and their willingness to keep fighting every step of the way. We will regroup, find out where we are headed tonight and start prepping for the NCAA tourney, which is exactly what you want to be doing this time of year."

Bullock led RIT with four goals on the afternoon.

Michael Marinello made 13 saves for SLU, while Alex Zborowski stopped eight for the Tigers.

St. Lawrence moved to 11-6, while RIT improved to 18-1 on the season.

The Saints will wait for the selection show airing at 9 p.m. tonight to see if they will earn an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament.
